"We were very excited on that day but everything turned out as expected. We welcomed boys and girls coming from Denmark looking forward to teaching them some presentations  we had been working on for a few weeks. . The presentations explained things more typical of Madrid, as the music, food, sites ... And  important figures of Spanish literature. About the food, we wanted to offer a small bite of something so typical of Spain, such as 'Roscón de Reyes'. So we prepared it with love, and apparently They liked it!.

Rebeca a student of our school performed a special flamenco dance.

After speaking  with them in small groups and getting to know something more about our cultures, we did a little tour around the city, stopping at sites of interest and explaining all the details, which also had been prepared earlier. Returning to the subject of food, to end the morning with teachers, both Spanish, as the Danish professor, went together to eat a 'Calamari Sandwich'  in the Plaza Mayor, something really typical.

It was a very exciting experience and we had great fun and we hope they had a good stay in Madrid.
Written by Tania

"I enjoyed very much because I like to speak with native people fronm other countries. Apart from that, this group of Danish were very kind and friendly"
Ismail M.

"The week before we were very nervous. We laughed a lot with the teacher´s name: OLE.  Danish people are amazing!"
Luis & Fran

"It was a great experience. We hope to go there (Denmark) in the future."
Abraham

As we had told you, we had a play in our school for the 1st grade. The actors couldn't come on time; so some of our students had to help the director and the caretaker to perform Romeo and Juliet. Even Dardo, the Language teacher, had to act. He played the role of a very loving king in Macbeth.

We enjoyed a Céilidh this morning

viernes, 21 de mayo de 2010

What is a Céilidh?
In modern usage, a céilidh is a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing. It originated in Ireland and Scotland, but is now common throughout the Irish and Scottish diaspora. Before discos and nightclubs, there were céilidhs in most town and village halls on Friday or Saturday nights; they are still common today.

The term is derived from the Old Irish céle (singular) meaning "companion". It later became céilidhe and céilidh. However, in Scottish Gaelic reformed spelling it is now spelt as cèilidh (plural cèilidhean) and in Irish reformed spelling as céilí (plural céilithe).

Here you can see the web of David Vivanco, the Presenter who introduced all the dances and music.

Cowboys and Cowards

I Need a Hero!
